PRESS RELEASE:

The Danish band GRAVY are finally set to release their follow up to the internationally acclaimed self-titled debut album from 2005, which spun off a few radio hits on the Danish alternative chart, the Barometer – especially the single ‘That Girl.’
Despite the almost chaotic making of the new album, sarcastically entitled ’Glory To Our Brilliant Name’, it introduces a warm, comfy feel, taking the listener to an old, secluded hippie hide-away and back again, on this mesmerizing pop-psychedelic album.
Influenced by the nostalgia of Technicolor and modern life, the band’s subtle love for the naivism of the 60’s and LSD-induced visions is cleverly mixed with contemporary elements from the alternative hip hop scene creating a dreamy, multi-layered and edgy sound. From the soft strings, organic organ, ethereal flutes and swooping guitars to the delicate, angelic and pious choir arrangements produced with an almost pedantic attention to detail.
And front man Nikolaj Grummesgaard is truly uncompromising when it comes to the art of making music. In his search for the perfect psychedelic sound, he tried all drugs needed to set him in the right mood for song writing. So the acid trip vibe on the album is very authentic.
Recording the album proved to be quite an ordeal for the involved musicians which count a few prominent names from the Copenhagen alternative underground scene. But they all agree that the fighting, emerging ulcers and long nights in an icy trailer during postproduction have been worth it and are thrilled they managed to complete the journey together.
A rough time for the musicians perhaps - but a real treat for the listener who is constantly surprised and captured by the details and colourful facets of this kaleidoscopic album.
’Glory To Our Brilliant Name’ is an explosion of sound leading your thoughts to sunny, far off places of the world. On this album GRAVY continue to explore their own musical vision, refusing to follow any charts and musical trends.
GRAVY bring memories of earlier days – what a thrill. We hope you feel it too – enjoy!
